Brasserie de la Senne
The beers of Brasserie de la Senne are produced by two passionate brewers from Brussels: Yvan De Baets and Bernard Leboucq. They work in a small brewery honouring the traditional ways of brewing beer; unfiltered, unpasteurised, free of any additives, using only the finest raw materials of the highest quality.
Their dedication to uncompromised quality is definitely one of the outstanding characteristics of the brewery. The beers, with their complex flavour and well-distinguished personalities are true beers of character, made in Brussels.
Introducing the range stocked at Urban Golf….
This Golden blond with 6% ABV is malty, with a fine bitterness and a long aftertaste. The scent is complex, developing a fruity-hop intense fragrance.
Without a doubt one of the finest beers I have tried this year – this will not offend any avid fan of a good old ale. Not overly hoppy nor overly fruity, this is a really well-balanced and quaffable ale, although quite pumpy at 6% it doesn’t have any lingering oily texture that higher ABV beers generally have. After a few you may lose any ability to work out which fairway you are actually playing for, but you will finish your round merry and in the knowledge that you have just sampled a superb beer from an extremely cool brewery.
This is a light blonde with 4.5% ABV, generously hopped with the finest aromatic hops, giving it a very refreshing character and a scent reminiscent of citrus.
More hoppy than it’s older brother Zinnebir, however you may manage a few more of these beautifully crated blond ales. At only 4.5% this beer is so well rounded and doesn’t lose much in a sense of taste despite having a lower ABV. For me this is as good as any blond within the sensible range, I would say this brewery delivers much more consistency in its brewing process than many smaller breweries around at the moment.
To the guys at de la Senne, I raise my glass and say ‘Sante’
