Alternative US Open highlights: Stenson shanks one into fan's head, Reed's epic club snap, Spieth takes shots at caddie
Sure, Gary Woodland winning his first big one was great and all, but there were some major side takes from the US Open that should not be missed.
First up came everyone’s favourite Scandy Henrik Stenson. Renowned for his ice-cool demeanour folded with a side of humour, the former Open champ turned a nasty incident into a stand up (or lie down) routine at Pebble Beach.
After shanking one – or a ‘semi shank’ according to Stenson – into a fan’s head on the 16th, the player went over to offer his sympathy before taking to the floor with the felled fan and his girlfriend for a snap. Enter selfie mayhem.
Henrik Stenson nailed a guy in the crowd with his second shot on 16. Guy was on the ground, down for the count. Henrik laid down for a photo this bloke will never forget. Henrik Stenson – absolute character 👏 pic.twitter.com/1YIE6pJUW4

“Luckily, I mean, you can get hit worse places,” Stenson said after his round. “The head is never a good place to hit, but at least not the eyes or teeth or anything. So coming up there, he’s flat down. He’s got like half of a golf ball swelling coming out of his forehead.”
Next up we’ve got Euro-trasher Patrick Reed. Paddy is thriving on his weight watchers scheme and decided to show the world his new hard-earned strength when snapping his club in one fell swoop over his leg. Reed NEVER skips leg day.

And then we have American sweetheart Jordan Spieth showing his dark side, like Bieber transforming into the street kid we see today…
His US Open was dominated by an epic incident, one that justifies having microphones all over the course in order to pick up these types of interactions.
After firing one over the back of the green, the Texan’s temper boiled over and the world heard him curse bagman Michael Greller. Taking shots at your caddy on national TV is never a great look. Although we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Jordan Spieth just completely called out his caddie on national TV. Whether the caddie misjudged it or not, that’s a bush league move. At the end of the day, you’re the one hitting the golf ball.#USOpen pic.twitter.com/lFSYQSGrvR
