Martin Ayers at Urban Golf - how to play golf, minus the BS
We’ve long admired Martin Ayers, an Aussie with a deep knowledge of the game and importantly an insatiable fascination with the golf swing.
Ayers rose to moderate fame thanks to his association with Steve Elkington, famed for his seemingly effortless but powerful move on the ball.
He’s teaching stuff that is very hard to get across, some of which you can only really point to, like guiding a person in the dark towards the light switch. Some people find this disconcerting – ‘snake oil saleseman’ if often levied – but he’s not. Absolutely not. We can vouch for his teaching because it’s worked on us. You have to give him some blind trust at the start, and then the results speak for themselves.
We had Martin down at Urban to film a series of lessons for us, which was a heap of fun and also enlightening. There’s nothing better for a bunch of golf obsessives than being able to pick the brain of a guru.
You can find all the lessons on our YouTube channel, but here’s a selection to get you in the mood.
