New pictures released of Bally Bandon Sheep Ranch
You may, or may not depending on how closely you follow this grand old game, know that Bandon Dunes has taken on neighbouring Bally Bandon Sheep Ranch, which will become the club’s fifth course.
The Sheep Ranch has always been shrouded in mystique and intrigue, with no fixed 18, no set par, and no press releases propagandising. It was frequented only by those in the know, which really wasn’t many.
However, things have changed – and fast. Oregon’s outstanding Bandon Dunes has re-connected with Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore – designers of Bandon Trails – to architect the new routing. Things at the Sheep Ranch are about to get a whole lot different.
The 18 will be over 7,000 yards in length, will feature no bunkers and will have a load of charasmatic trees around the place. It will be open for play in 2020 – expect a fierce stampede of expectant golfers.
Golf.com recently made the trip to Bandon in order to get some snaps, which gives an insight into how it will look on opening night.
