The 2018 season seems to have gone by in a flash! Here we are now at he years final major – the last time the USPGA will be played in August before the move to May.

It’s widely agreed that Bellerive is going to be a bombers paradise and certainly explains some of the odds for some decent, though shortish players. In all honesty, it’s difficult to get up for the USPGA so soon after an incredible Open Championship. The style of golf just isn’t that appealing and if we believe what we hear, this will be the last event to be held at this venue. It’s saying something when even the PGA of America don’t find the course interesting.

Rest assured, this will be some of the dullest golf you will see all year. Expect the leaderboard to be filled with big-hitters. Justin Thomas will be a tough man to beat, but at short odds he’s unfortunately a tough man to back too.

Let’s run through our list of bombers:

Brooks Koepka 22/1 – Stake £10 e/w Potential return £295

Having successfully defended his US Open title in June, Koepka has very much secured his place in the upper echelons of the game. Not only does he smash it a country mile, but he proved at Shinnecock that he is way more than just a bomber. He could well be one of those players who wins only big events!

Tony Finau 40/1 – Stake £10 e/w Potential return £520

Big Tony was on the cusp at Shinnecock and has got it going since in among some big company. He’s another who’s game is tailor-made for the course and in an event with a history of producing one-off major winners, this could be just the one for Finau.

Bryson DeChambeau 70/1 – Stake £10 e/w Potential return £895

The man is a complete loon, but he’s playing some great golf in between meltdowns – most notably on the range at The Open. Having secured his 2nd PGA Tour win at The Memorial, DeChambeau is one good finish from securing his spot on the Ryder Cup team. He may not be likeable but he’s brining in the form and the game to claim a maiden major.

Thorbjorn Olesen 90/1 – Stake £10 e/w Potential return £1145

Thunderbear is white hot this summer. He’s been on the rampage across Europe during the summer months and tore up Firestone last Sunday with a blistering 64 to nurdle his way into the top 3. He’s another on the cusp of a Ryder Cup spot, though if he keeps us this form and doesn’t qualify by right, he will surely get a pick. Mark my words, this is a great set-up for him.

Aaron Wise 110/1 – Stake £5 e/w Potential return £697.5

Yup, that’s right! There are a few NCAA champions who have come out on tour and made it big – Mickelson and Woods to name just a couple –  may just be the most exciting prospect to have won it since. Having finished a narrow second to Jason Day at the Wells Fargo he went one better next time out by winning the Byron Nelson. Tag on a 6th placed finish at Firestone last time out and you’ve got yourself a fine prospect on a course that he knows very well indeed.

Gary Woodland 125/1 – Stake £5 e/w Potential return £1260

He’s pumpy long, won at Scottsdale and has no right to be listed at these odds having been decent lately with 6 consecutive cuts made including an encouraging top 20 at Firestone.
