Cabot Cliffs is a Coore & Crenshaw masterpiece, and playing it again over the past few months has reminded me that we’ve entered a new era of course design.
We’ve moved on from the Nicklaus era — when designers seemed to think every course had to be built for a pro tournament. For years, they were paralysed by the idea that one day a tour player might shoot 59, and somewhere along the way, the rest of us golfers got left out.
Cabot Cliffs is the antidote to that thinking. It’s a course designed for us.
Yes, the views are jaw-dropping, but it’s the playability that makes it so special. There’s risk and reward everywhere, but the carries are achievable. There are bounce-in angles you can see and use, so even on your first round, you’re already having fun experimenting.
I’m in love.
It’s what Pebble Beach should be — spectacular, welcoming, and full of possibilities. And the best part?
It’s available to play right now at Urban Golf, alongside dozens of other gems on our expertly curated Reserve List of courses.
There just aren’t months in the indoor season.
